Activities and decisions of CICE, from newest to oldest.

    • Shared a guide to the ICE2028 call for symposia with the Local Organising Committee (LOC), drawing on the ICE2024 Kyoto procedures.
    • Invited Council members to review their profiles and provide portrait photographs for the new CICE website, and requested arrangements for the website transition.
    • ICE2028 LOC met to discuss congress preparations, publicity, the scientific programme and award presentations.
    • The Secretary General circulated the CICE Awards call for nominations to approximately 35 entomological societies.
    • Council approved the CICE Awards Terms of Reference (ToR) through a quorate vote.
    • Rosemary Sang was elected to full Council membership, moving from adjunct membership.
    • Opened voting to fill the Council vacancy following Shu-Sheng Liu’s resignation.
    • The Union of Japanese Societies for Insect Sciences confirmed that it had no objection to archiving the ICE2024 organising committee website at the National Diet Library of Japan.
    • A letter of appreciation was presented to Shu-Sheng Liu following his retirement from Council on 26 July 2026.
    • Circulated candidate information for the Council vacancy election following the close of nominations.
    • The final review period for the proposed Constitution amendments closed; the circulated procedure provided for approval in the absence of substantive objections. The precise approval date remains to be confirmed.
    • Arranged an opportunity to promote ICE2028 at the Australian Entomological Society meeting in December 2026.
    • Renee Borges informed Council of her election as President of the International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS) in June 2026.
    • Circulated the final proposed Constitution amendments to Council, with an objection deadline of 19 August.
    • Council met to review ICE2028 preparations, publicity and the proposed Awards ToR and timetable.
    • Council ratified Norihide Hinomoto’s appointment as Treasurer.
    • Announced Shu-Sheng Liu’s retirement to Council and invited nominations to fill the vacancy.
    • Shu-Sheng Liu retired from Council with immediate effect after serving since 2012.
    • ICE2028 LOC met to review section conveners, plenary speakers, publicity, exhibitions and the social programme.
    • Circulated the draft Awards ToR, call for nominations and nomination form to the Awards Committee for review.
    • Norihide Hinomoto was elected Treasurer, subject to ratification at the next Council meeting.

    • Maria Marta Cigliano and Takema Fukatsu retired from Council and were presented with letters of appreciation, dated 8 May and sent on 11 May. Cigliano announced her resignation on 16 February; Fukatsu agreed to step down in April.
    • ICE2028 LOC met to review section conveners, plenary speakers, publicity, the venue and social programme.
    • Invited Hou-Feng Li to chair the Awards Committee.
    • Presented proposals to strengthen CICE governance and financial management.
    • Published The Forefront of Insect Sciences (昆虫科学の最前線), edited by the Union of Japanese Societies for Insect Sciences and published by Maruzen Publishing; released to bookstores on 1 April.
    • ICE2028 LOC met to review section invitations, international publicity, exhibitions and public engagement.
    • Confirmed the sharing of minutes and records following the Chair transition meeting.
    • Kenji Matsuura, Walter Leal and Angharad Gatehouse held the Chair transition meeting to hand over Council responsibilities and records.
    • Shared ICE2024 Kyoto programme and organisational experience with the ICE2028 organisers.
    • Started reviewing the draft ICE2028 sponsorship prospectus.
    • Reported ICE2024 Kyoto’s JNTO Japan Conference Excellence Award to Council; the award ceremony took place on 12 February.
    • ICE2028 LOC met to review publicity, section conveners, exhibitions and social events, and welcomed the new Council Chair.
    • Kenji Matsuura formally accepted his appointment and began his term as Chair of CICE.
    • The Secretary General announced Kenji Matsuura’s appointment as Chair of CICE following the nomination process.
